MEXICAN BEER ROUND-UP

Advertisements

I love these small 330ml bottles.

One more Belgian beer from the LCBO holiday gift pack.

About the Beer – It poured a yellow/blond colour with a massive head.  The aroma was very tart on the nose with hits of citrus fruit.  the flavor followed the nose with VERY tart start followed by a bit of soap and a big lemon citrus finish.

Would I Drink it Again? – No, I am pretty sure this one was off slightly.

Not sure what I was expecting but this sure wasn’t it.

Paul is usually pretty good at finding me some real winners when it comes to beer.  This one was not one of them.  Don’t get me wrong, I love the guys at Amsterdam and their seasonal’s are excellent but this beer just doesn’t appeal to me.

About the Beer – It poured a lovely copper colour.  The nose was a bit hoppy with some fruit and grain.  The flavour did not remind me of  a pale ale at all.  More like a vienna lager??  Lots of grain flavor.

Would I Drink it Again? – No, not my cup of tea as they say.

Is London becoming a beer town?

On one of my last visits to London my Dad surprised me with some Railway City brews that he picked up from the brewery.  This got me to thinking is London becoming a beer town?  Just outside of town they have a micro brewery.  In town they have one of the largest Macro breweries and one of the best beer bars in Ontario, Gambrinus Bistro & Cafe!

About the Beer – I did not do a full review but here were some general impressions.  The beer was very nicely malted with hints of honey and a more bitter finish than I was expecting.

Would I Drink it Again? – I am not usually a big fan of Honey Brown’s but I really liked this one.

A little surprise.

We were invited to a party at our friends Peter and Nicky’s.  When I arrived there was a pleasant surprise.  One of Peter’s friends had just been in Vermont and brought back a Growler of Hex from the Magic Hat Brewing Company.  This was an interesting beer as it appears to be a Red Ale but they call it their “Ourtoberfest”.  They use some German malts and hops but interestingly they also add Cherry Smoked malt and Rye malt!

About the Beer – I did not review it since I was at a party and having too much fun!

Would I Drink it Again? – Yes, it was an intersting beer.
