Why do I keep trying French beers?

Brasserie Fischer was founded in 1821 by John Fischer in Strasbourg, which is in the Alsace region of France.  The Alsace holds a special place in my heart.  We went there as a family for my first trip to Europe.  It is an amazing little area filled with good food, great wine, and some really cool architecture.  I will never forget my Dad and Wife ordering Choucroute Garnie (sauerkraut and sausage) to share.  It had to be the biggest meal I have ever seen.  To top it off they refill the plate as much as you want.  One gentleman at another table took them up on the offer after polishing off the first round!!

I have tried several French beers now, all I can say is I wish they were as good as their wine!

About the Beer – It pours a nice blonde colour with a good head and lacing.  The aroma was of light floral hops, rye, ginger, and some sort of chemical.  The flavour was all rye and alcohol with a hit of citrus bitter at the end.  Not a pleasant taste combination!

Would I Drink it Again? – No way,  I could not even finish one glass!  Especially when the fridge is full of this: Hard to Stop at Just One – Beer #75
