Brew – Greene King IPA 5%

Brewer – Greene King

County – Suffolk, United Kingdom

Purchased – LCBO

So from a very modern IPA yesterday to a very traditional one today.  Greene King IPA has been brewed in Bury St. Edmund’s, Suffolk for over 100 years, and the brewing tradition in Suffolk has been around since 1086!  We can only get it bottled here in Canada but in the UK it is a very popular Cask Conditioned beer.  It would be interesting to go to the UK and try it in its preferred form!  Oh….. and it is the official beer of Rugby England.

About the Beer – Very traditional IPA flavor.  Earthy but bitter at the end.  On the first sip I noted a distinct taste of honey.  I would consider this a warm flavored beer compared to the more refreshing modern IPA’s.

Would I Drink it Again? – Yes.  Even though I do prefer a more modern IPA this has good flavor and would go well with a hearty meal.
